On the eighthday of Christmas, the Whitefish Team gave me –schema tagging tips for free.
Put very simply, it’s a way of giving Google more information on what your content is about. This is done by using semantic vocabulary in your HTML code to structure the data and give meaning to your content so that it’s more than just words.
When websites utilise schema mark-up, it helps the search engines return more informative results for users based on cost, location, industry and an array of other data.
This is an example of a website using schema mark-up:
Schema is important because it enables you to rank higher for content types like articles, reviews and products. Sites that implement schema generally perform better in the SERPs, some say up to 4 times better.
To implement schema mark-up, you can use Google’s Structured Data Markup Helper tool and select the data types you want to mark-up and give meaning to. You can then test your structured data using the Structured Data Testing Tool.
