On the seventh day of Christmas, the Whitefish Team gave me – hints on how to cut it socially.
Social media is an essential part of any digital marketing campaign. It’s an incredibly powerful tool that gives you great reach, a real-time connection with your target market and the potential to show your brand’s personality.
But which platform is best for your business? Actually, there is no right or wrong answer here. Just as variety exists within types of industries and services they provide, variety also exists within the spectrum of platform available.
The types of social media platforms include:
Channels such as Instagram and Pinterest are platforms that are largely visual with the emphasis on photo and video sharing.
Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn are all examples of social networks where connecting with people is the name of the game. Facebook is the most widely used personally but businesses greatly benefit from this if used properly. LinkedIn is solely for business use so is less social but has some powerful benefits.
What you choose to use depends upon the types of business you are in. Creative industries might find media platforms more successful, whereas corporate organisations might opt for LinkedIn or Twitter.
Our advice? Test the water. Whilst all platforms have paid advertising options, a basic profile is free, and you can measure the success of each on Google Analytics. You may also wish to consider some social media training.
